October 1, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: e-Watch INCORPORATED INTRODUCES A COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTION WITH IP ADDRESSABLE SMART CAMERAS, MANAGMENT SOFTWARE AND THIRD PARTY INTEGRATION OPTIONS SAN ANTONIO, Texas - October 2, 2001 - In light of recent terrorist attacks, security is of ever-increasing importance in today's world - from tighter airport checks to heightened safety measures at public schools and sporting events, everyone is impacted by the need for increased and improved surveillance systems. To help with this initiative, PhotoTelesis Corp.rporated, today announced the introduction of the e-Watch® family of surveillance products. The family includes WatchCam - a second generation IP addressable smart camera, e-Watch® software, - a browser-based monitoring and archiving suite of applications, WatchLink TM -- the wireless infrastructure utilized for wireless transmission of data to and from e-Watch devices and GateWatch TM -- a gateway to interface various third party alarm systems to the e-Watch® situational awareness system. According to Ray Hollida, program manager for PhotoTelesis Corp.rporated, the e-Watch® surveillance system has many unique features that have taken years to develop. "As we began designing the e-Watch system two years ago, we pulled from our collective 15-year history of handling surveillance for the Department of Defense. As a result, we are now able to supply this broad-reaching, effective system that features multiple streaming and broadcasting options." Innovative Technical Elements Among its technical attributes, the WatchCam camera includes an embedded processor and controllers that are required for on-board Ethernet connectivity, motion detection, JPEG encoding, dual-bandwidth MPEG encoding and support for multiple power supply options, such as online power delivered via the CAT5 wiring plant. Additionally, the WatchCam camera output may be routed via numerous channels, including multiple storage servers, wireless transmitters, wireless hand-held monitoring stations and wired desktop monitoring stations located anywhere on the LAN, WAN or Internet. Unlike many surveillance systems on the market today that have limited capabilities, e-Watch is much more flexible due to the fact that the system supports the streaming of multiple formats simultaneously - allowing customers to choose the MPEG video stream most suited for their infrastructure. The system also is adapted for transmitting high-resolution JPEG images. EWATCH INCORPORATED INTRODUCES IP ADDRESSABLE SMART CAMERA/2 Of significant importance, is the ability of the e-Watch system to be integrated with existing or new third party control systems, such as Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control Systems, Environmental Control Systems and Process Control Systems. All elements of the system are controlled through a browser-based suite of applications. "With all of the legacy analog cameras, and many digital systems, you lose resolution quality or frame rate with the addition of cameras to the system," says Hollida. "e-Watch scales upward effectively. It's designed so that numerous cameras can be added without suffering the consequences of low quality resolution or slow frame rates, which is great for customers who require full-motion cameras." The e-Watch suite of applications is browser-based, which allows video images to be loaded on an HTML page on the customer's server and then viewed from any Windows-based computer. Another enhanced feature is its non-blocking architecture. Hollida explains that many analog systems are limited to a few monitoring stations, due to the blocking architecture inherent in closed circuit systems. With its multi-cast and uni-cast broadcasting video capabilities, e-Watch does not have this restriction. Aggressive Market Outreach e-Watch executives have an aggressive business plan in place targeting commercial sectors that require surveillance needs, which encompasses most businesses. In the meantime, primary strategic outreach includes the education market, airports, banking institutions, hotels, public meeting places, sporting events, retail shopping areas and correction facilities. "Our job is to keep people safe and we believe our enhanced surveillance systems will provide the peace of mind we are all seeking in today's volatile world," says Hollida.
